Founder

Karim Annabi

Karim immigrated from Algeria to NYC at age 8 speaking no English and with the help of his public school teacher mother quickly tested out of the ESL class. Within three years Karim qualified for and passed an entrance exam admitting the top 1/4 of 1% to Hunter, the top public school in America according to the Wall Street Journal. Notable school mates include MSNBC news anchor Chris Hayes and entertainer Lin-Manuel Miranda. With a passion for sports, Karim was a basketball, soccer and athletics varsity athlete at Hunter, notably placing second in NYC in the High Jump.

After Hunter, Karim earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from the NYU Stern School of Business, during which he also completed a diploma at Sciences Po Paris. After some work experience, Karim returned to NYU for a MBA in a dual degree program with HEC Paris. Karim was also a standout athlete in college; as a freshman he placed first in the High Jump at the Yale Invitational, set a NYU record in the Pentathlon as a sophomore that still stands, was named Conference Athlete of the Week several times and received the NYU Roberto Clemente Student Athlete Award. At Sciences Po Paris and HEC Paris, Karim captained both basketball teams to tournament championships.

Karim began his career in Equity Research at UBS Investment Bank, followed by other financial service experience in Paris and London at companies such as, GE, McGraw Hill Financial and Petroineos. Between jobs, Karim played two years of professional basketball in Algeria, with a short stint as a member of the national Track & Field team. After becoming a UK citizen, Karim stepped back from the corporate world to focus on personal endeavors. During this time, iactivatelove took shape to address the global suffering from the covid pandemic, financial crisis, social/political unrest and toxic social media culture.
